The two parties are coalition partners in the outgoing government, where Dacic is first deputy prime minister to PM Vucic, and also serves as foreign minister.

"When it comes to the goals and what both us and them have clearly chosen - there are no political (differences). There are certainly personal ones. I'm making an effort to see them that way, and I'm not taking part in them," Dacic told the Belgrade-based daily Danas.

He added he was "not thinking about a ministerial post, nor the post of prime minister, but is only waiting for elections and achieving the best possible result."

"I've already been the prime minister, why would I go back to that. I'm joking, of course, I was speaking about my political position, the political scene in Serbia and the distribution of power in it," Dacic has been quoted as saying.

Asked whether he intends to run for the office of the president of Serbia, Dacic said it would make him "a serious political amateur" if he were to, in any way, deal with presidential elections that will be held next year, "with these (parliamentary) elections not over yet."
