The DS president also accused PM and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic of being responsible for "the atmosphere of lynch and violence, and hate speech in every SNS statement, as well as the statements of that party's leaders and his associates."Pajtic said the incident in Belgrade was "the 97th consecutive attack on members of the Democratic Party in four years" and that the institutions reacted to it "because there was video footage and it was not possible to avoid reacting."
Pajtic said there was no reaction in most cases "when people were beaten during the rearranging of governments at the local level, from Vrbas to Mionica." He also asked the authorities to identify the perpetrators of the violence that he said was ongoing for years, adding that his party "will not respond with hate speech, and in kind."
Owner and editor-in-chief of the Informer tabloid Dragan Vucicevic took part in the news conference, asking whether it was true that Dragan Sutanovac had acted provocatively toward one of the attackers, and "how this one differs from the other fights that took place in Belgrade before."
Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said yesterday that the police reacted quickly in this case, "solving it in less than three hours."
"It concerns members of supporter groups from Belgrade, it does not matter which ones. One person is associated with a party, which can be seen from his statuses on the internet," said Stefanovic.
Later on Monday, the party published what it said was unedited footage of the incident:
