Socialists deny they might team up with opposition
"Of course we are not considering any kind of cooperation or talks with the new DOS, that would be irresponsible toward Serbia's citizens," said Milicevic, whose party is currently a member of the ruling coalition led by the Progressives (SNS).Ahead of early parliamentary elections, that should take place in the spring, Milicevic said the opposition was not working together for the sake of a common idea or to provide a true alternative to those in power - "but to survive politically."
As for relations and cooperation in the SPS-SNS coalition, he said it was "excellent."
Over the weekend, SNS leader and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said he was convinced that all opposition parties would unite regardless of their differences if this meant they would have "one vote more than the SNS."
"They'd all unite, even with the SPS, only to have one vote more and form a government," said Vucic.
Reacting to this remark, officials of the opposition DS and New Party "denied such a possibility," the Beta agency reported.
New Party (NS) leader Zoran Zivkovic a coalition of this nature would be possible "only if a volcano erupted - or if something similar happened."
