The Fund's president, Valery Alekseyev, told reporters in Belgrade that Nikolic will be officially informed about the accolade tomorrow, and will receive an invitation to visit Moscow.

Other recipients on this year's award include Bulgarian Orthodox Patriarch Neophyte and Russian State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin.

Alekseyev said that these awards are given "with the blessing of Russian Patriarch Kirill," and that, because of Nikolic's meeting with Putin, his trip will have not only social, but also "a wider political" significance.

Alekseyev noted that previous recipients included Putin, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, and Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic.
