"Unlike Montenegro, Serbia can't be played with" - president
"Montenegro has opted for membership in EU and NATO, but also for open conflicts and misunderstandings with everyone with whom these organizations are in conflict - that is, for membership without identity and autonomy," Nikolic said of the neighboring country.According to him, unlike Montenegro, Serbia is "showing all the time that it is not such a state, and that it cannot be played with."
"Serbia is showing it has its own interests, rights, centuries-old friendships and that Russia, too, cannot tell us - 'now you are enemies of the EU' nor can the EU tells us that Russia is our enemy. We don't want that," Nikolic was categorical.
He also said that Serbia should not be compared to Montenegro, because it is "deliberately annulling its independence in the decision-making and is recommending itself as a country that will accept everything it is told in order to join NATO."
The Serbian president said that he does not want to interfere in Montenegro's internal relations, but expressed his concern over the fate of the Serb people and of the Serbian Orthodox Church in that country.
