Vucic echoed a statement by the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, who once said that "to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."

Regardless of economic success, the state and society will not be doing better without care for the future and respect for human rights, Vucic said.

It is important that children, too, know that they have rights, he said.

"It is important that we, as a state and society, be more fair and ensure the same opportunity to everyone," Vucic said.
