Serbian, Croatian ministers "agree on some concrete steps"

"It's important to us to agree on a speedy transit, while respecting rules and procedures, but also that they waste no time, that things are decent, warm, that people are approached in a normal and humane way," Stefanovic told reporters after the meeting, and "stressed that a strategic approach should be agreed on."

"What is happening is not our fault, and neither Croatia nor Serbia are economically strong enough, nor can we be accepting 50,000 people," said the minister, and explained that "some concrete steps have been agreed."

"Migrants come and go, neighbors stay," Stefanovic said, noting that "the two countries should have good relations."

His Croatian counterpart said that the agreement today was "quick and simple" to reach. Ostojic confirmed that Croatian trains would be running to Sid, and that refugees will be taken from there to Slavonski Brod.

Stefanovic stressed that some 300,000 migrants and refugees who passed through Serbia since January "have all the documents necessary to move on."

"We are ready to cooperate both with our neighbors in Croatia but also with the EU, if those documents were to be used to enter transportation, (reception) centers, and for the further journey toward the EU, I believe nobody will lose it, throw it away or put it away," he has been quoted as saying.

Stefanovic also "stressed it would make the job easier for all countries when it comes to registering refugees, but also, make their journey easier."
