Members of three political parties in the Kosovo assembly blocked the work of that body by not letting its members to approach the stand and speak.

Opposition blocks work of Kosovo assembly again

Opposition deputies blowed whistles and tore curtains in the assembly hall that covered images placed there in 2008, when ethnic Albanians unilaterally proclaimed Kosovo independence.

The images depict Albanians in national costumes, and they have been covered at the request of Serb deputies.

The opposition has been blocking the work of the assembly for nearly three weeks, demanding that Kosovo Prime Minister Mustafa withdraws his signatures from the agreements reached with Belgrade in Brussels in late August.

They particularly oppose the agreement on the setting up of a community of Serb municipalities and the agreement on the demarcation with Montenegro.

Prime Minister Mustafa recently pointed out that the agreements with Belgrade had been signed with EU facilitation and it was not possible to change them in any way.

Because of this attitude, opposition activists threw eggs at Mustafa in the assembly building on several occasions and a motorcade escorting him has been stoned.
