Serbia will not be building border walls - PM

"We will be taking no part in that. We will be erecting no walls," Vucic told RTS.

Serbia is showing solidarity with refugees and migrants and it will treat them in a humane way, like it has so far, the prime minister noted.

Several temporary accommodation facilities are under preparation for refugees as they are expected to stay longer in Serbia after September 15 due to cold weather, he said.

Around 130,000 refugees have passed through Serbia to date, with 5,540 entering Presevo on Thursday alone, Vucic said.

Those who are afraid that Serbia is in danger because of this should not worry because they will lack nothing, he said.

Serbia received large financial assistance from the EU and other countries when it was hit by floods, Vucic said, adding that "we must not be thankful when we need money without showing solidarity when others need help."

The prime minister noted that images of Serbian police officer Redzep Arifi hugging a Syrian boy and those of Hungarian camerawoman Petra Laszlo tripping and kicking refugees "showed the good and bad face of Europe."

"We turned out to be greater Europeans than some others who are in the European Union," Vucic "noted with pride," Tanjug reported.
