Dacic, whose party is a member of the ruling coalition led by Vucic's SNS, also observed that he "cannot prevent Vucic in his intention to call elections" adding he had no plans "to do that."

"If he wants to call (elections), let him. I should not think about that, because I don't decide. He decides on that. If he wants my opinion - my opinion is that (elections) are not needed, because there is no political or constitutional crisis that should be resolved in elections," he told Radio Beograd 1.

Dacic also stressed he was "dealing with things that have significance for the state," and that "these issues don't concern him much."

Vucic on Monday said there was a number of reasons both in favor and against early elections, but that he would make a decision by the end of September.
