Dacic thanks Iran for "principled position on Kosovo"

According to the Serbian Foreign Ministry, as Serbian foreign minister met with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran "the Iranian side stated that their stance in relation to the Kosovo and Metohija issue was one of basic principles of the foreign policy pursued by the country - a rational approach based of international law."

Dacic began his visit to Iran on Monday by meeting with Zarif and "discussing improvement in relations between the countries in all fields," according to Tanjug.

The Serbian MFA said that Dacic "congratulated his counterpart on the agreement on Iran's nuclear program, and voiced willingness to improve friendly relations between the two countries."

In that sense, the two ministers voiced interest in intensifying the high- and top-level political dialogue and holding political consultations at the level of assistant ministers.

"There are prospects for stepping the economic cooperation even further," the officials noted and considered the possibility of organizing a business forum that would contribute to developing the bilateral cooperation.

"In September, an economic delegation from Iran will visit Serbia, and the two ministers discussed energy security and human rights issue, and agreed that efforts should be put in ensuring a visa liberalization scheme for citizens of Serbia and Iran," the MFA statement said.
