UNSC session on Bosnia postponed for Wednesday

The meeting has now been rescheduled for 16:00 hours CET on Wednesday.

Tanjug is quoting diplomatic sources who said there has been no agreement between western permanent Council members and Russia and China.

Even after the consultations on Tuesday, Russia maintained its position that the proposed resolution would be vetoed unless the text changed.

Reports earlier in the day said that China proposed the initial postponement of the voting, believing that consensus among all UN Security Council members should be achieved before the vote takes place.

China believes that the text of the draft does not go in favor of reconciliation in the region, and notes there has been no agreement on the draft even among the peoples in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The meeting of the United Nations Security Council dedicated to Bosnia-Herzegovina was initially postponed for one hour, Serbia's state broadcaster reported earlier in the day.

This came "due to major differences in opinion among the member states of the UN Security Council in relation to Britain's draft resolution on Srebrenica."

The session was to consider Britain's draft resolution on Srebrenica, whose sixth version Britain submitted to the UNSC on Monday evening.

The content of Britain's resolution is "absolutely unacceptable to Serbia," Tanjug reported. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic over the weekend asked Russia to veto the document.

Despite expectations to the contrary, Russia did not submit its own draft on Bosnia to the Council.
