Haradinaj to remain in Slovenia, court decides

The court said it has received "a complaint about the handling of procedures regarding the arreste of a citizen of Kosovo," the Slovenian news agency STA said.

The court requested that the appeal be complete, since it does not include the power of attorney for the defense counsel, so that it can processed, according to STA.

At the same time, the court explained that "in the case of the extradition of a foreigner, a citizen of Kosovo" to Serbia on the basis of an international arrest warrant, "the person arrested promised not to leave the country."

Haradinaj, who has been in Slovenia since Wednesday, is accusing that country of "playing dirty games with Albanians" because it respects warrants issued by "states that no longer exist."

The president of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo was detained at the Ljubljana airport, on his way to Pristina from Berlin.

Haradinaj told a judge that he would not leave Slovenia without the court's approval, and his passport has been temporarily confiscated.

The Hague Tribunal in the past twice acquitted Haradinaj of war crimes charges. The trial that lasted until April 2008 saw him set free for lack of evidence.
