President: Serbia ready to respond to threats

Nikolic stressed Serbia's support and friendship with Macedonia, which is facing a serious domestic political crisis.

"The time that is ahead of you is very sensitive and you must be prepared to adequately face the security challenges. Serbia has a ground safety zone and is ready to respond to any threat. Anyone who dares to cause any unpleasant situation in Serbia can count on the unity of the army and the police,"Nikolic emphasized.

Ivanov informed Nikolic about the current situation in Macedonia and the measures taken by the government in Skopje.

"Thank you for your words of support, it means a lot to us to have a friendly country to the north," Ivanov said of Serbia.

The two presidents agreed that the bilateral cooperation is very good, "in the spirit of good neighborliness, friendship and close ties between the two nations."

"Political dialogue in the last three years has intensified, deepened and well promoted through the visits and meetings held at the highest level," a statement from the meeting said.
