President to fly to Moscow on government's Falcon

After the incident on April 17 when one of its engines failed while the president was on board, on his way to the Vatican, the Falcon was flown to Basel, Switzerland, where its "fuel pump was repaired."

The paper also reported that "it is likely that different pilots will be flying Nikolic and his entourage to Moscow."

The president will on Saturday attend the Victory Day military parade on Red Square in which Serbian soldiers will also take part.

The final report on the April incident should be presented in the coming days. The daily Politika on Tuesday carried an interview with pilot Petar Romcevic, who flew the craft on April 17, and said the plane was not put in jeopardy by "spilled coffee" - but "probably by the loosened band of the co-pilot's wrist watch."

"Due to sharp maneuvering, it was a very unpleasant experience for the passengers. The plane was under my control," Romcevic said.

The incident subsequently stirred controversy, with presidential adviser Stanislava Pak on April 17 praising the pilots, and announcing that Nikolic would in the future "only use regular flights."

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, headed by Zorana Mihajlovic, later published documents that said coffee spilled on the control dashboard was the cause of the incident.

This resulted in a clash between the media, the Presidency, and Mihajlovic, with Nikolic's adviser Oliver Antic blaming the minister and her ministry for the incident. Pak asserted that Mihajlovic wanted to become the president.

According to the daily Vecernje Novosti, Nikolic will travel to the Vatican "in June at the latest."
