"Serbia wants cooperation, but not CSTO membership"

"The official state policy is that Serbia will not become a member of any military alliance, but our country will cooperate with all those who can contribute to development of global security, including its own security," Drecun said during a conference in parliament on relations between Serbia and the CSTO.

The organization's members include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

Noting that the Serbian parliamentary delegation is attending the CSTO parliamentary assembly session in the capacity of observer, Drecun announced that the delegation will be in St. Petersburg on April 14 to discuss the possibility of boosting cooperation.

The conference on new security challenges in Europe and Eurasia and Serbia's role was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandr Chepurin, who said that cooperation between Serbia and the CSTO was "in mutual interest."
