Aleksandar Vucic wrote in an opinion piece published by the Belgrade-based daily Blic that "it seems the main problem is a lack of will to go to the future."

Cabinet "lacks support, condemned to dream alone"

"The future is too uncertain, it requires too much effort, it depends on us, it wants us to dedicate time and work to it, in a word, it is too demanding, at least for us."

The opinion piece, entitled, "My Answer to Them" further said that "regardless of the stories about an omnipresent government that controls and influences everything in the state and society," his cabinet lacked the support of "the most elite part of society, or the most elite part of what is the basis of every future."

"We are condemned to dream alone," wrote Vucic.

According to him, "work is not ideology, it demands a lot from each of us, and that's why it's easier to be preoccupied with other people."

"Then, when Vladimir Putin arrives - aha, they sold out to the Russians. They gave up on Europe and jeopardized the future of the modern Serbia. When Tony Blair arrives - aha, we're joining NATO, or talking about media manipulations. I guess they know what they would do, what they would talk about," Vucic wrote, and revealed what he talked about with some of his "best-known guests":

"And to whom to explain that the topics, with Putin, were reforms and investments, in other words, work, that the main topic with Blair was efficiency, again in work. And that the basic topic with Europe is - work, as well as with China, Azerbaijan, the United Emirates... again we talk about - work."

He then stressed that "a part of Serbia, united in its lunatic ideologies, lives on stories."

"They feed on them, they are addicted to them more than to any vice that can be imagined," wrote Vucic.

For that reason, the prime minister continued, "nobody's dealing with the results of this government, or with a single number that says what we have been doing has produced results."

"That recognition comes from the world, from its most valuable and developed part. What is more important, at least judging by newspaper headlines, is the Ukrainian scenario (only one of the former regime's leaders spoke about that scenario), Putin's strike on Serbia, and that we will certainly be flooded, and that 300,000 Serbs are contemplating suicide," he wrote, and then sent a message to "idle conspiracy theorists":

"This country, under this government, will continue to talk to Russians, and Americans, and the Chinese, Arabs, Bulgarians, and if need be with extraterrestrials - about one thing alone. About work."

In an apparent reference to the fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper", the prime minister stressed that members of his cabinet received their mandates "in order to be ants", and then presented his opinion about "crickets":

"I'm afraid they sang their song in the last election. There will no longer be that kind of Serbia. No matter how hard they tried, the united ideologists, to reinstate it, regardless of all the help they have through prophetic printing and broadcasting of various catastrophes."

According to him, "this country chose something else, that scenario where many more than 300,000 people will have jobs."

"At least I'm working on that. Every day. I will continue and they will not stop me," Vucic concluded.
