The Hungarian MTI agency said in a report that the prime ministers, as well as foreign ministers Ivica Dacic and Peter Szijjarto, spoke about "the region's energy security, and the possibilities of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation."

According to a statement, the two prime ministers agreed to hold regular consultations on prospects of new investments after the South Stream pipeline was abandoned, and to cooperate in technical and financial preparations for these projects.

Orban's press service chief Bertalan Havasi was quoted as saying that both countries have an interest to buy natural gas at competitive prices, and that this "could be secured via multiple options of alternative routes in Central Europe."
