Serbian PM meets with Swedish counterpart

Swedish PM Stefan Lofven said after his meeting with Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic he "hoped that Serbia would join the EU as soon as possible."

Serbian PM meets with Swedish counterpart

Vucic, who is in Stockholm on Monday, thanked the Swedish government for their continued support Serbia's European integration, as well as for the assistance given in the wake of the May floods.

He invited Lofven to visit Serbia, which was accepted by the Swedish premier, adding that the visit will follow very soon, according to a Serbian government statement.

Vucic said he hoped that Serbia will be able to implement all required reforms, and that, once it secures an arrangement with the IMF and a package of economic measures, it must attract "even more foreign investments."

He began his one-day visit to Sweden with a meeting with representatives of major Swedish companies.

Vucic also conferred with with Swedish Deputy Speaker Tobias Billstrom about "Serbia's European path and bilateral relations."

During the meeting he "emphasized that Serbia's strategic goal was to become an EU member," and that it was "doing everything to fulfill this goal."
