After the meeting that lasted three hours on Thursday the teams signed an agreement about amending the controversial legislation, which will be considered on Saturday by the AKS.The agreement suggests that the AKS ends the strike, while the Serbian parliament should receive the amended laws and adopt them in urgent procedure.
This session could take place in the second half of January, after the government forwards the drafts.
Member of the expert team of the AKS Jasmina Milutinovic said that lawyers could return to work on January 18 at the earliest, but that the AKS assembly would make a decision.
Deputy Minister of Justice Cedomir Backović said he "guaranteed" that that the envisaged changes would be sent to parliament by the end of the month, and urged an end to the strike even before their adoption.
The lawyers' strike began in September, with demands including changes to the public notaries legislation, regulation of lump sum taxation, and dismissal of the minister of justice.
