Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić received credentials on Tuesday from the newly-appointed ambassador of Hungary, Attila Pinter.

He said that a strong impetus in this respect came from the visit by Hungarian President Janos Ader to Serbia last year, and also the visit by Prime Minister Viktor Orban this year.“The Republic of Serbia is firmly committed to strengthening of good neighboring cooperation and partner relations with your country on the basis of mutual respect and joint interests,” Nikolić said.
“Common efforts and commitment can contribute to strengthening of cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, particularly in the economic, investment and infrastructure fields, where potentials are immense,” the Serbian president said.
He once again thanked for Hungary's support to Serbia's EU pathway.
“We expect to continue to cooperate with your country in this matter, and we deeply appreciate your expert assistance is the accession negotiations,” Nikolić said.
Ambassador Pinter underlined that good neighboring relations are among the priorities of Hungary's foreign policy, stressing that in this respect Hungary endeavors to build the best possible relations with Serbia.
Pinter said that the bilateral relations have never been so good and balanced as today.
Moreover, he noted that the two countries offered support to each other when they were hit by floods.
Pinter also noted that Hungary is one of the most important investors in Serbia and that Hungarian companies are ready for further investments.
Serbia is the crucial country in southeast Europe. I am certain that the region can be stable and safe if Serbia is stable and safe, the Hungarian ambassador said adding that Serbia's dynamic development and progress are in the interest of Hungary.
Hungary offers consistent support to Serbia's soonest possible accession to the EU, and it stands ready to back the country in future as well, Pinter said.
