Constitution change "at end of accession process"

He told reporters in parliament on Friday that "all reform measures are primarily done for the sake of the citizens and not for the sake of the EU."

"As far as changes to the Constitution, the SNS made its objections several years ago when we were in opposition. We submitted our demands to the National Assembly and they are related to changes in the number of deputies," said Babić.

He explained that the party believes the Serbian parliament is "cumbersome and expensive" with 250 members and that 150 deputies would "properly represent Serbia, while parliament would be far more efficient and cheaper."

Asked "what will change in the Constitution when it comes to Kosovo," Babić explained that change to the Constitution would be "part of a general agreement, consensus," and that "all the measures that it brings" will be discussed.

When asked "whether it is too early to talk about it," he said the government is "committed to measures that will bring more jobs, more investment, reduce unemployment."

"All these are prerequisites for a normal life, while the end of the process of EU accession means changes to the Constitution for each member state, and so it will for Serbia," concluded Babić.
