"Diplomats were invited, not Obama and Cameron"

It was diplomatic representatives of the U.S. and Britain that have been invited to a military parade, not these countries' leaders, Ivica Dačić says.

"Diplomats were invited, not Obama and Cameron"

Media outlets previously reported Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić as saying that all Serbia’s friends, including the U.S. president and the British prime minister, were invited to attend the military parade in Belgrade on October 16.

“Invitations have not been sent to them. Their representatives here in the country will be invited. When it comes to diplomatic representatives, all our allies will be invited,” Dačić told state-run Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) on Tuesday.

Gašić told the RTS that his statement including the supposed invitation to Obama and Cameron had been "taken out of context."

“I said that we will invite all our allies from the First and Second World Wars, in the context of inviting all Serbia’s friends, and we believe the United States and Britain are among them,” said Gašić.
