Serbia supports peaceful solution in Ukraine

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić conferred on Wednesday in Belgrade with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Aleksei Meshkov.

Serbia supports peaceful solution in Ukraine

He expressed satisfaction with the two countries' good relations and frequent high-level meetings and contacts, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Vučić "voiced concern over the conflicts in the east of Ukraine and added that Serbia will support a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine."

Meshkov "expressed gratitude for Serbia's support and understanding of the situation Russia is facing in the context of the crisis in Ukraine, adding that his country does not wish this situation to create additional pressure on Serbia."

He also noted that Moscow is ready to intensify cooperation with Serbia in all areas and that it respects the Serbian government's independent and responsible position in terms of foreign policy, the release reads.

While in Belgrade, Meshkov also met with Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić and with President Tomislav Nikolić.
