"I am very grateful to Angela Merkel for initiating this conference and sending this signal. Next year the conference will be held in Austria and then in France. It means that the EU considers the Western Balkans as a serious partner," he told the Vienna daily Presse.

According to Dačić, the conference will evaluate the enlargement process, harmonize foreign policy positions and discuss economic projects such as building roads and railway connections.

When it comes to Serbia's OSCE chairmanship next year, he announced that Belgrade will continue the course started by Switzerland.

"Three points are important - the OSCE has organized supervision of the Ukrainian-Russian border, the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine should be improved, and dialogue encouraged," Dačić said.

He pointed out that Serbian is a friend of Russia and of the EU, that it aspires to EU membership, and for that reason wants to act "very constructively" during its chairmanship.

"Our leadership should be acceptable to all parties. While preparing for the chairmanship I will speak with all relevant actors - Germany, the EU, the U.S., and Ukraine and Russia," said Dačić.
