Ukrainian peacekeepers to leave Kosovo

Ukraine will pull out most of its troops from the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR) by the end of the month, KFOR announced on Monday.

Ukrainian peacekeepers to leave Kosovo

Ukraine has some 160 troops serving in KFOR, while Hungary has over 200 peacekeepers.

Some Ukrainian officers will continue to serve in staff roles in Kosovo, it has also been announced.

Previously, an official of the Ukrainian army general staff announced that the troops would be withdrawn from Kosovo so they can join the fighting in eastern Ukraine.

In its statement, KFOR said it "welcomes the arrival of additional Hungarian troops and expresses its gratitude to Ukrainian soldiers for their contribution to NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo."
