Mayors of Moscow and Belgrade discuss cooperation

"We agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between the two cities in the next three months to define the projects Moscow and Belgrade will do together, which were discussed today," Mali told Tanjug.

The conversation included Moscow's experience with projects involving public-private partnerships, since the city finances its largest investments that way and Belgrade is planning to use the same model for a project on waste management and management of the landfill in Vinča, as well as the construction of 4 underground garages, Mali pointed out.

The two mayors discussed public transportation, ways of attracting investors, energy efficiency and options for improving the efficiency and transparency of the city government.

Since Moscow has one of the best development public transportation systems in the world, it was agreed that the two cities directorates for public transportation would work together, Mali stated.

The two also discussed energy efficiency, which is something Moscow has been working on intensively in the past few years.

Mali said the topics also included e-government, as Moscow was one of the leading cities in the world in this respect.

"Belgrade is planning to introduce full e-government in the next four years, and the first step has already been taken by introducing electronic tracking of cases processed by the Urbanism Secretariat," said Mali.

The two mayors discussed also the ways of improving the cultural and tourism cooperation and the possibilities for student exchange.

Mali invited Sobyanin to visit Belgrade in October and attend the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital in the Second World War..
