The Serbian government has appointed CeSID Program Director Marko Blagojević as head of its newly-formed Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief.

NGO director made head of flood recovery office

Blagojević is known to the public as longtime head of the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) - a NGO that monitors and analyzes elections and election results.

The government on Thursday also considered the information about the state of the country's road Infrastructure in areas affected by floods and landslides, and it was estimated that roads and railroads have been "significantly damaged."

Directors of public enterprises that manage roads, railroads, and water resources - Putevi Srbije, Koridori Srbije, Železnice Srbije, Srbijavode and Beogradvode - attended the meeting and submitted their reports. They were told to mobilize all capacities, prepare and within seven days start with the reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges, said a statement issued by the government.

A decision was also made today that disinfection carried out from the air in the flooded areas should be done in cooperation with Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
