FM attends Non-Alligned Movement conference

Serbian FM Ivica Dačić is participating in the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Algeria on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry has said.

FM attends Non-Alligned Movement conference

Dačić, who also serves as Serbia's first deputy prime minister, is attending the NAM conference in the capacity of an observer, as Serbia is not a member of this organization.

The NAM chairman and Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zari, addressed the gathering during the opening ceremony, as did Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

Messages were also read on the occasion from UN General Assembly President John Ashe and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Serbian MFA announced.

In bilateral meetings with Algerian officiasl, Dačić is due to discuss improved economic cooperation between the two countries and the principled support that the north African country gives Serbia "concerniing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija," the Serbian ministry said.
