He promised the residents in Krupanj that all the destroyed houses would be rebuilt by the state by the end of September, and that all road and other infrastructure damaged in the devastating floods would also be repaired.

Vučić spoke to the locals and specified that 38 houses were totally destroyed and 168 more damaged.

The prime minister added that the government will also "do everything" when it comes to repairing the damage to the electrical grid and telecommunications. According to him, the biggest problem now are the landslides. Professional services will decide which locations will be suitable for building new homes, he said.

Vučić added that life in Krupanj "will not only be normalized" and explained that the state will try to get investors to open a textile factory there, while he "already has a potential investor in mind that could employ 300 to 500 workers" - something that would be "a major boost for Krupanj."

Reporters wanted to know if there were plans to build preventive embankments and better manage waterways, and Vučić said that this would be worked on - "but not everything can be done immediately, not even America can do something like that."

The prime minister announced that he would visit Krupanj again in two months' time to see how the works are progressing.

Vučić also remarked today that "now is not the time for vindictive behavior," and added that it so happened by accident that most of the flooding occurred in those municipalities where his party, the SNS, is not in power on the local level, and mentioned Loznica, Valjevo, Obrenovac, and Krupanj.
