The discussions were also attended by the two countries' delegations.

The Serbian delegation includes Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkić, Minister of Culture and Information Ivan Tasovac and presidential advisor Marko Đurić.

A number of bilateral agreements will be signed, including a trade agreement, an agreement on road transport and transit of goods and people, and a program on cooperation in education, science, culture and sports in the period between 2014 and 2016.

After this, the two presidents will address the media.

Also on Wednesday, Nikolić will meet with the President of the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia Mustapha Ben Jafar and the country's minister of culture.

On the second day of his visit, Nikolić will lay wreaths at the Sejumi monument, and then go to Bizerte, where he will visit the Serbian military cemetery as well as lay wreaths and place a plaque of gratitude to the Tunisian people.

Nikolić will also visit Menzel Bourguiba, where he will lay wreaths at the Mausoleum of French and Serbian soldiers.

Nikolić's visit will continue with a meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa.

At the end of the visit, Nikolić will open an exhibition titled Serbs in North Africa in 1915-1919 and plant an olive tree as a token of friendship.

This will be not only the first visit of a Serbian president to Tunisia, but also a historic one, as it will mark the end of a long period of absence of political dialogue at the high and highest level despite the excellent political relationship between the two countries devoid of issues.

The last visit to Tunisia was paid by Josip Broz Tito, lifetime president of Serbia's predecessor Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), back in 1961, and the fact gives the visit political weight and shows Serbia's readiness to open a new page in overall relations with the friendly Tunisia.
