Italian Brigadier General Lucio Batta has taken over the position of Chief of the NATO Military Liaison Office (MLO) in Belgrade.

"I look forward to continued assistance to the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces in further reform efforts, and hope that our partnership will continue to strengthen,"l Batta said during the ceremony on Thursday.

He underscored that NATO "remains willing to cooperate with Serbia on all issues of mutual interest."

Batta is the sixth chief of the MLO office in Belgrade, since NATO founded it in 2006. He held the same office in 2007 and 2008.

The change-of-command ceremony brought together Serbian Defense Minister Nebojša Rodić, Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples Admiral Bruce Clingan, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Ljubiša Diković, government and military officials, representatives of the media, non-governmental organizations and diplomatic corps.
