BELGRADE FM Ivan Mrkic has said that he and President Tomislav Nikolic spent "three hours in conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle." This took place "after the official memorial service for Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg on Tuesday," the Serbian foreign minister explained. Nikolic spends three hours "in small talk with Obama" Mrkic added that "there was not much talk about politics, just small talk." “Of course, there is always a bit of politics involved. Our president and Obama discussed some political news. They had a very rich and friendly conversation,” which took place in the company of Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito, Mrkic said for Thursday' edition of Politika, a Belgrade-based daily. Nikolic also met with French President Francois Hollande, whom he met in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, and should have a meeting with again in France. “We met and talked with practically the entire Africa, with many presidents, all the way from Nigeria to South Sudan, which gained independence two years ago,” Mrkic said, adding that he also met with the Ukrainian deputy prime minister. Mrkic said that there are a million links between Serbia and Mandela and that Serbia has a special place in South Africa. The majority of countries in Africa see Serbia as a continuation of Yugoslavia and with good reason so, he added. The Serbian delegation met with representatives of the Serb community in South Africa and saw they are doing well, said Mrkic. (Instagram) Politika Tanjug
