BELGRADE The election victory of the "Srpska" list in Serb-majority areas "proves that Serbs in the area stand by the Serbian government," says Aleksandar Vulin. According to him "no one will be able to deliver any decision regarding their position in the province without asking Serbs what they think about that." Vulin says Serbs in Kosovo "stand by government" The Serbian government-backed electoral list of the Citizens' Initiative "Srpska" won nine out of the ten Serb-majority municipalities in local elections in Kosovo. After the second round of elections, which was held on December 1, the minister without portfolio said that after a ruling majority is set up in each municipality, a community of Serb municipalities will be formed in line with the agreement on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina which was reached in Brussels. In a statement to Radio-Television of Serbia, he explained that the new local government in Serb municipalities will first voice its opinion on a statute of the community of Serb municipalities, "which will be something recognized by institutions in Pristina, Brussels and Belgrade." Vulin underscored that the community of Serb municipalities "will bring together Serbs in Kosovo, who will present a united front and have ties with Belgrade that cannot possibly be severed, and united in this way, Serbs will fight for their interests." Vulin announced that the management team, comprising representatives of four municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija, will be in Brussels on Tuesday, where it will talk with representatives of the EU about experiences of other European regions Asked whether "the success of the list will be a prelude to the participation in early elections if they happen," Vulin said that this was "something that will be decided on."
