BELGRADE Head of Belgrade's team for the implementation of the Brussels agreement Marko Djuric says that Pristina is exclusive in its interpretation of the deal. He stated that the two sides interpreted the essence of some regulations differently. Pristina, Belgrade “interpret agreement differently” “The main stumbling blocks are the forming of the community of Serb municipalities and a concept of integration in the security and judicial systems,” Djuric told daily Politika. According to him, the Serbian side will not allow the agreement to become bad for Serbs through various interpretations of how it should be implemented. “The other side is for now very exclusive in its stances and interpretations and it is creating a gap that mediators cannot bridge,” he said and added that he believed that a solution would be found in time. When asked if he expected more pressure, Djuric noted that he expected “new ideas and proposals and a continuation of the dialogue”. “Representatives of the interim self-government in Pristina are trying to make specificity and powers given to the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija by the agreement relative. This is something we quite certainly are not ready to accept,” he stressed. Djuric added that the Serbian side had opened the issue of the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and property rights of Serbia and its citizens in Kosovo. “All these are topics that will inevitably be on the agenda and that need to be discusses as soon as possible,” he stated. When asked about a new meeting of the two working groups, he said that it would be decided on the format of the next meeting after the analysis of the previous round of the talks. “As far as the Serbian side is concerned, the success of the further talks will depend solely on the harmonization of a possible implementation plan with the agreement that has recently been accepted by both sides,” Djuric was quoted as saying.
