BELGRADE The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leadership confirmed at a session on Saturday that the ruling coalition was unified. They also stressed that relations in the coalition were above personal disagreements. Progressives “assert coalition unity” at Saturday’s meeting This practically denied media speculations that the lack of unity in the lines of the ruling coalition was caused by polemics on the appointment of the show-business manager Sasa Mirkovic of the SNS as the assistant minister of transport. The polemics was caused by the statement of leader of the United Regions of Serbia (URS) and Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic that he personally would never appoint Mirkovic for the office. Mirkovic replied that he would never work for him either because Dinkic had ruined Serbia's economy. After the SNS session which lasted over three hours, Igor Mirovic of the SNS leadership told reporters that SNS believed that the relations in the ruling coalition were above personal disagreements. According to him, SNS leadership also discussed this point, although the agenda of the meeting focused on the analysis of the work performed by the ministries and certain ministers. The SNS leadership has decided to stage a special session soon on problems in Kosovo during which the text of the draft resolution would be carefully analyzed together with the stands of the future tasks of the parliament and the negotiating team in the dialogue with Pristina interim government. Mirovic noted that the SNS leadership had once more asserted its support to “all those in the first lines in the fight against crime and corruption”, and particularly SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic. “The SNS leadership concluded that the party should focus on the development of the economy and fight against corruption in the time to come,” Mirovic explained.
