BELGRADE The Serbian opposition believes that Prime Minister Ivica Dacic’s government will not last a full mandate and that early elections can be expected this year. According to the opposition, the government will fall due to confusion in the ruling coalition, not due to pressure of the opposition. Opposition: Government won’t last full mandate Opposition representatives believe that early elections are just months away. “This government has no capacity to last the full year, it has no clear policy,” says Democratic Party (DS) official Borislav Stefanovic. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has stated that the confusion could lead to early elections in 2013 but that it would only result in a reshuffle of the ruling coalition, not the change of policies. “The opposition in Serbia has never caused early elections with its pressure, the elections only happened because of dysfunctional relations in the ruling coalition. If it had been up to us, this government never would have been formed. Do we want elections? Yes. But not so we could have more MPs afterward but because we believe that a campaign is a good opportunity to talk to the society. If you ask me about relations in the opposition, they are not stable,” LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic pointed out. Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) officials say they are always ready for elections but that they hope that they will not be held this year. According to them, the entire year would be lost of the elections were called. Both Dacic and First Deputy Prime Minister and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Aleksandar Vucic have noted several times that early elections have not been considered.
