VELIKA PLANA There are pressures to release Delta Holding owner Miroslav Miskovic from custody, First Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic has said. He added that he would see Miskovic’s release as his “personal failure”. Deputy PM on Miskovic case, early elections “If this happened without good reasons, I would see it is a personal failure,” the deputy prime minister told reporters on Saturday. “I am not the one who decided on it, this is a question primarily for the investigative judge and prosecutors,” Vucic said when asked if Miskovic would be released from custody. “Whether they will stand up to the pressure or not is not my concern. I have heard announcements that Miskovic will be released by New Year’s. There are various forms of pressure, I even find it funny to listen to some who take his side and say what the truth is and what it is not,” he underscored. He added that he would see Miskovic’s release from custody both as his personal failure and failure of the Serbian government’s policies and that he was not ashamed to admit it. Miskovic, his son Marko and another five suspects were remanded in custody for 30 days on December 14. Vucic stressed that he did not think about early election and that they should only be organized in case of serious problems, not in the case of low or high political ratings. “Our job is to do what we can for Serbian citizens, not to look at opinion polls,” he noted. The deputy PM stressed that investigations in 24 controversial privatizations, as a part of combat against corruption, should be completed by September and that he expected serious results by the end of January. According to him, solving of the cases was a very important job of the Serbian government. Commenting on a monument to members of the so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja (UCPMB) in the southern town of Presevo, Vucic said that no one could play games with the state. “We are tolerant people who respect rights of ethnic minorities in accordance with all international conventions and legal standards but nobody can and is allowed play with the state,” he pointed out. The deputy PM added that he would voice his opinion about the platform on Kosovo once an agreement has been reached in the government. Aleksandar Vucic (Tanjug) Beta Tanjug
