BELGRADE Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert has said the a draft platform on Kosovo has good elements but that certain parts still need some work. He added that it was necessary to make some changes in order to make the platform acceptable for both sides. Platform still needs some work, EU rep says “Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, as I understand, shared the draft platform for Kosovo with ambassadors. We are waiting to see the final document and we will present our comments then,” Degert told daily Vecernje novosti. “From what we saw, there are some good elements that are giving a chance to move forward in the dialogue. However, there are parts that require some fine work so they could be acceptable for all sides in the process,” he was quoted as saying. When asked why changing of borders in the Balkans was unacceptable for the EU and why it was opposed to the partition of Kosovo, Degert said: “Stability in the Western Balkan region is important for the EU and everything that creates tensions and instability should be avoided. Setting up borders along ethnic lines is not in accordance with European values and it is contrary to tendencies aimed at establishing the freedom of movement and securing minority rights.” Vincent Degert (Tanjug, file) Vecernje novosti
