KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Northern Kosovo businessmen decided on Thursday evening to block all roads leading to Kosovo three times a week between 10:00 and 12:00 CET. They announced that the roads would be blocked every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. N. Kosovo entrepreneurs announce new roadblocks All stores in Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic will be closed in that period and all roads leading to Jarinje, Brnjak, Suvi Do, Rudare and the Bosnjacka mahala neighborhood will be blocked. Companies that purchase raw materials in central Serbia will also be closed. It is expected that representatives of local self-governments will join the protests. Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Secretary Slavisa Stanic told reporters that a reason for the protests was the fact that they were “not satisfied with agreements reached in Brussels that are harmful to businessmen and citizens in northern Kosovo”. “The implementation of the agreements has led to increase in prices of goods in the market in the northern part of the province and shortages are also possible due to limited supplies of goods of up to 3.5 tons,” the entrepreneurs warned. They made a conclusion that “it is necessary to raise communication with the government’s Office for Kosovo to a higher level in order to solve problems easier and more successful”. The entrepreneurs have announced they will “radicalize” the protest if the blockades yield no results and if the agreements that “jeopardize Serbs’ survival in Kosovo” are not suspended. Beta
