BELGRADE Serbian parliament Speaker and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) official Nebojsa Stefanovic is hoping that state organs will protect Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic. He said that threats against Vucic were serious and showed that people involved in high profile corruption affairs would not easily accept being held responsible for their crimes. I hope that the state organs are taking all necessary measures so Vucic and other officials are safe,” the speaker told daily Vecernje novosit. Stefanovic added that he hoped that “Vucic and his family will not be physically threatened”. “The state must not allow anything bad to happen to him or anyone else who is involved in this serious job,” he was quoted as saying. He also added that “Vucic cannot be bribed”. The first deputy PM was allegedly threatened by Delta Holding owner Miroslav Miskovic who was arrested on suspicion of abuse of office. Commenting on a platform for Kosovo, Stefanovic said that the latest changes were being made so the draft would be ready next week. “After consultations of whips with President Tomislav Nikolic, I will do my best to find time so parliament can vote on the document by the end of the year,” the speaker stressed. When asked whether the platform would contain a concrete proposal for the final status of Kosovo, he said that the “resolution is being adopted in order to offer a solution”. “It will not talk about relations in general, we will instead offer solutions that are in accordance with (UN Security Council) Resolution 1244 and our Constitution. The point of the draft is to find an appropriate solution for the difficult situation in the province,” Stefanovic noted. When asked about the change of the ruling majority in the capital, he said that he did not doubt they would have the majority if a decision was made to replace Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas.
