BELGRADE Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic stated on Monday that he expects the EU accession talks with Serbia to begin in June. Dacic underscored that it is obvious from the draft conclusions that Serbia has never been closer to the date of accession talks and EU membership. PM expects EU accession talks "to begin in June" He expects the draft conclusions of the EU Council to make it clear whether the decision on initiation of talks with Serbia would be adopted in March so that the talks could begin in June. The prime minister told reporters in the Serbian government that EU foreign ministers in Brussels are discussing Serbia's progress on Monday and expressed the expectation that they would also voice their stands on the situation in Serbia. He said that the implementation of the integrated administrative crossing management contributed to this as well. “If had not been for this, the date could be set in 2014 or 2015,” Dacic said and added that there are also other ways but authorities need to think things over well before they carry out any moves. He expressed gratitude that the implementation on Jarinje and Merdare has begun on Monday and added that it needs to be in keeping with the agreement reached with High EU Representative Catherine Ashton and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, that is that there can be no changes compared to the previous state. Dacic said that by the agreement on crossings, the Serbian government asserted that it is aware of the responsibility and obligations taken over from the previous government. Dacic added that Serbia has earned international credibility which will be important when the authorities venture to discuss the country's progress. "We have shown our abilities in the difficult times and we have proven that we have the courage to protect peace and our national interests," Dacic said and added that traffic in Jarinje and Merdare is functioning at an uninterrupted rate.
