BELGRADE Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Holy Synod "has requested from the Serbian president and PM to reject the agreement on the integrated crossings management". The Holy Synod also presented its own plan for the solving of the Kosovo issue, claims a report in a Belgrade-based weekly, which has in the meantime been rejected by the head of the SPC as false. Weekly claims that SPC Synod "opposes state policy" The proposal consists of eight points that range from "abolishment of Petar Stambolic's borders and a request to remove U.S. Camp Bondsteel", writes Nedeljnik. In a letter, the SPC Synod reportedly called on the state officials “not to take part in the country’s suicide”. “We expect the current government and parliament to reconsider all agreements of the previous government about the ‘crossings’ that have not been approved by parliament instead of accepting ‘the integrated border management’,” the Synod’s letter allegedly read. The SPC "requests from the state organs to demand guarantees from the international community for the return of thousands of expelled citizens from Kosovo, restoration of houses and churches and to pass a law on restitution of the state and church property in Kosovo before any other talks". According to the weekly, the letter was sent to President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and opposition leaders. The letter was published by the weekly a day after Dacic met with Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci in Brussels where they discussed the implementation of the integrated crossings management. However, Bishop of Backa Irinej has denied that the letter is authentic. Representatives of northern Kosovo Serbs will today meet with Nikolic and Dacic and top Serbian officials met late last night. The prime minister said after the meeting that the state leadership fully agreed on the state policy for Kosovo. Nikolic met with SPC Patriarch Irinej in June, July and November and asked for his support and blessing for the state policy for Kosovo. (FoNet, file) B92 Tanjug Nedeljnik
