Dinkić's URS "to become party" next spring

The United Regions of Serbia (URS) will transform from a movement of regional and local parties and groups of citizens into a uniform political party.

BELGRADE The United Regions of Serbia (URS) will transform from a movement of regional and local parties and groups of citizens into a uniform political party. This was announced on Sunday, along with plans to hold an election assembly in spring which is to adopt the program documents. Dinkic's URS "to become party" next spring URS leader and cabinet minister Mladjan Dinkic announced at a session of the URS management that an election assembly will be held in spring, and that G17 Plus, the movement's key party, will be abolished. Dinkic suggested Predrag Markovic, one of the G17 Plus founders, as president of the new party's Political Council, adding that the body will prepare a platform for a new political program which will be based on socially-responsible market economy, decentralization and regionalization. Due to a great number of respectable individuals and small parties, the future party will keep its organizational specifics, and a good model is the organization of the Christian-Democratic Union in Germany, he said. The Serbian government, in which the URS is a coalitional partner, is functioning better than any other government in the last 12 years, and that is the reason why the opportunity must not be missed to take comprehensive reform steps in the society, said Dinkic, minister of finance and economy. Dinkic, who met with URS members for the first time on Sunday since the formation of the government, presented a report on the work of the ministry which is headed by the officials of this movement. Suzana Grubjesic, member of the URS Presidency and Serbian deputy president for the EU integration process, said that the government has to initiate implementation of comprehensive reforms during the first year of its work, adding if it does not do that, it will be unsuccessful. URS leader and cabinet minister Mlađan Dinkić announced at a session of the URS management that an election assembly will be held in spring, and that G17 Plus, the movement's key party, will be abolished.

Dinkić suggested Predrag Marković, one of the G17 Plus founders, as president of the new party's Political Council, adding that the body will prepare a platform for a new political program which will be based on socially-responsible market economy, decentralization and regionalization.
