Serbian President Boris Tadic conferred with his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer in Vienna on Thursday evening. Tadic arrived in Vienna late in the afternoon for a short visit, during which he said earlier he intends to elaborate on the reasons why Serbia refuses to give up on UN SC Resolution 1244 and to discuss the situation in northern Kosovo. Tadic confers with Austrian President Tadic said before departure that he is having a dialogue with the EU leaders, and that he is persuading them that the Resolution had not only brought about peace in Kosovo, but that it also represents the foundation for resolution of the Kosovo issue in the future. Along with Germany, Austria objected most to granting Serbia the candidate status due to Serbia's refusal to give up on Resolution 1244 and recent incidents in northern Kosovo that left their (German and Austrian) KFOR troops injured.
