Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica says Serbia should forget about the EU membership and continue to develop as an independent country. He said at the DSS Main Board meeting on Sunday that Serbia should not put its national and state interests second to Brussels’ will. “Serbia should forget about EU” “Brussels is not our capital. We have our own state and it’s called Serbia,” Kostunica said and stressed that DSS’ goal was not the country’s isolation but economic and development cooperation with all EU member states. “This new state policy and this new national goal that removes the issue of Serbia’s EU accession from the agenda is a natural consequence of the EU’s intention to snatch Kosovo away from Serbia,” the DSS pointed out. According to him, the current government is ready to sacrifice Serbia, its state and national interests in order to get the EU candidate status. Vojislav Kostunica (Beta, file)
