The government discussed the situation in Kosovo on Thursday and concluded that efforts must be made to avoid any further escalation of violence. Efforts must also be made to secure the survival of Serbs in the southern province, it was said after the session in Belgrade on Thursday. Govt.: Escalation of violence must be avoided The government calls upon members of KFOR and international missions, acting in the province in line with the UN mandate, to refrain from violent acts towards the population and to ensure security and normal life in the province. Furthermore, the government calls upon Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija to avoid conflicts with members of international missions and to make wise decisions in order to help resolve the crucial existential issues of Serbs in the entire province. The government feels that the removal of road blocks in the north of the province is important for the stabilization of life there, and adds that dialogue is the safest path towards the resolution of contentious issues and permanent stability. The government has issued an order to all relevant ministries to secure the regular functioning of institutions and the supply of all provisions and medicines to the people in the province. It also calls upon all political stakeholders in Serbia to lead a responsible politics and thus help to pacify the situation in the southern province and help Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
