German FM Guido Westerwelle has warned that "attacks on KFOR ahead of a decision on Serbia’s EU candidate status are jeopardizing its European prospects”. “I am saying freely and without hesitation: if Serbia does not accept Kosovo territorial integrity, then it is a criterion in the German decision making,” he stressed. Each day that passes like this is driving it further away,” de Maiziere said in Brussels on Wednesday. According to German media, the defense minister stressed that Belgrade had a strong influence on the Serb population in Kosovo and that the influence should be used more often in order to enable a peaceful development of the local situation.
