Belgrade and Pristina have reached an agreement on a joint, integrated control of the administrative line, Pristina-based daily Koha Ditore writes. According to the daily, the agreement envisages joint patrols of Kosovo, Serbian and EULEX customs and border police officers. Belgrade, Pristina reach agreement on crossings - daily “The proposal came as a parallel process with the dialogue process,” international sources told the daily. “All parties have talked about the issues but not as a topic of the dialogue. Everybody agrees now and there will be an integrated management of the borders,” a high-ranking international official stressed. The agreement envisages joint Kosovo and Serbian customs points and it does not require Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence. The Kosovo government has agreed to have integrated control over the crossings with central Serbia, in accordance with the EU standards. Koha Ditore writes that EU facilitator Robert Cooper visited Pristina on Friday night and had a meeting with Pristina team chief Edita Tahiri, but points out that the meeting was held behind closed doors. Cooper and Tahiri discussed the latest preparations ahead of the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels. The daily has assessed that the fact that the Kosovo government has accepted the proposal represented a proof that the administrative crossings issue has become a topic of the dialogue, even though Prime Minister Hashim Thaci’s government publicly denied it and was strongly against it. According to the daily, Belgrade team chief Borislav Stefanovic asked Cooper last month to present the proposal to the Pristina authorities. He also requested that the integrated system be implemented only at the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings but the EU facilitator changed his proposal so the system is expanded to all six administrative crossings with central Serbia.
