Even though it has been mentioned that parliamentary elections will be held early, they will not be held before next spring, daily Blic writes. According to the daily, the most likely date will be May 6. Daily: Elections to be held next spring “The biggest problem is to keep the ruling coalition together until New Year. After that here will be no important bills on parliament’s agenda that caused biggest debates among the coalition members. A more serious work is expected after the spring sitting begins and regular elections will be called then,” daily’s source said. Analysts have assessed that the ruling coalition will not call early elections because it cannot count on getting a date for the beginning of the accession negotiations on December 9 along with the EU candidate status which would ensure a victory in the elections. “Everything aside from that is too thin for the pre-election triumphalism that would make the government feel as if it was on the wings of destiny,” stressed Transparency Serbia Director Vladimir Goati. He explained that without the candidate status and a date for the beginning of the accession negotiations the ruling coalition could hardly evoke a euphoria that the opposition would not be able to minimize.
